SR1 Status and integration discussion 30-31/10/02
Integration Discussion 30/10/02
Subject: Time periode mid -2004 to end 2005 (end of phase 2 - start
phase 3)
-
sequence of arrival of detector parts.
-
Where do we do assembly for barrel ID (sct->trt assembly) and testing
-
where do we do assembly for EC-A, EC-C (sct->trt) consistent with barrel
tests and acceptance test of EC A/C (sct) and assembly +test of EC A/C
(trt)
Area Numbering for this discussion:
Note, that the rest of the assembly area is used for other activities,
which where not part of the discussion (that they are white doesn't mean
they are empty) !
A sketch of the schedule outline:
img_5299
We agreed to study the feasability of the following baseline program
and space sharing:
2005:
-
all final tests of ID barrel, EC A and EC C must be done in the test area
-
ID SCT -> TRT barrel are assembled (insertion) in TA
-
ID barrel is tested in TA
-
ID EC C: SCT->TRT is assembled in the area 1
-
ID EC C is moved to TA when barrel is finished
-
ID EC C is tested in TA
-
ID EC A is assembled in area 1
-
ID EC A is moved to TA when EC C is finished
During operation 1 to 8 the entrance to the test area is from area 1 (original
planned door), the TA is separated from the assembly area by a fence .
Area 3 is used continously by pixel. (TRT and SCT endcap A's will be continued
in specific TRT and SCT area (sct: area 2, trt: area right of area 1) )
We will look into possibilities to test ID EC A and C (after sct->trt
insertion) in parallel.
2003 to mid 2004
-
SCT barrel visual inspection is done in area 2
-
SCT barrel acceptance tests are in TA
-
SCT 4- barrel assembly is in area 2
-
TRT barrel structure alignment is done in TA (full platform for 1 month
sometimes during Sept/Nov 03)
-
TRT barrel module mounting & testing is done in area 1 (upper half,
needs further study),
-
TRT EC tests are done in area 1 lower half
-
pixel will require 12x4m area for trial-assembly for 3 months at end 2003/early
2004 anywhere in the assembly area
-
during this full periode the pixel do not require their full area adjacent
to the TA and space up to axis 11 can be used (left half or area 3)
-
during this periode (2003-mid 2004, operation 1-9) the access to the TA
will be through the pixel area (left part of area 3)
mid 2004-end 2004:
-
full SCT services are installed in TA (while 4-barrel assembly progresses)
-
TRT barrel will be moved to TA when finished and be prepared for SCT barrel
-
SCT barrel moves to TA when finished
-
SCT EC C acceptance tests are done in area 2
-
TRT EC C testing coninues in lower half of area 1
Note that during the periode mid 2004 to end 2004 we will move the entrance
to the TA back from area 3 to area 1 .
Next steps
-
study services routing in test area for SCT and area 1 for TRT (Anatoli,
please provide the number and acceptable length range of services to Richard
for TRT EC and barrel testing during 2003-mid 2004)
-
update inventory list
Status of SR1 building 31/10/02
Clean room walls
The C-profiles to hold the walls on the bottom and the side are
all welded in.
The walls will arrive at Cern during next week.

Ventilation:
the air-ducts for the clean room ventilation extraction have been dilvered
by ZVVZ
img_5302
the hole for the main extraction duct is being drilled in the out side
building wall
img_5303
the hole for the main air inlet of the ventilation in the building wall
is finished, the wall is reinforced by beams above the holes, the inlet
connection for the air ducts below the false floor is visible in the forground.

inlet hole from out side (the air ahndling unit willbe placed
in the concret slab to the right)
img_5307
drilling of the extraction hole. This hole will also serve for the
emergency smoke extraction of the area
ZVVZ started the installation of the diffusers in the clean room (to
be finished this week)
img_5305
The main airhandling unit and the controls will be delivered to Cern
next week.
Electricity
The first transformer (on the picture below to the right) will stay
and serve as the main electricity supply (precisely speaking not this one,
but another one in its place)
This arrangement was made to save money for the main connection of
the elctricity distribution cabinets . They are right behind the building
wall (which saves substantial high power cabling between the transformer
and the distribution)
The other transformers along this wall can be removed to allow for the
installation of baracks. Those baracks will (most likely) serve for the
evaporative (maybe also mono) cooling , gas supply for PIX,SCT,TRT,
.

The installation of the electricial distribution will start next week.
The reinforcement of floors for electrical distribution cabinets and
UPS in the rack area is finished.
The drain infornt of the laser room outside door (later blocked) is
being installed right now.
